Sleepless in Pelsall as great gran wins £21,000 at bingo
A 64-year-old woman from Pelsall is more than £21,000 richer and it’s all thanks to playing bingo.
The lucky winner, who wants to remain anonymous, says she couldn’t believe in when she was told how much she had won and had lost a lot of sleep as a result!
Her big win came on the evening of Thursday, 27 March at the Gala Club in Anchor Road, Aldridge when she won the National Bingo Game prize of £19,482, plus the Regional prize of £2,332 and the house prize of £75.
The National prize that evening was £38,964 but she had to share with a player in Hornchurch, Essex who also completed a full house in 45 numbers, the lowest call in any of the 470 clubs playing nationwide.
The woman, who is retired, is married with four children, eight grandchildren and a great grandchild. She has been playing bingo ‘for years and years,’ and plays once a week at the Gala with her sister, with whom she is sharing the money.
She intends to use her share to pay for a pre-booked holiday to Mexico and will put the remainder in the bank ‘to mount up.’
“I couldn’t believe it when I won but now I’m trying to see if I can win again,” she added.
