Derby woman wins £11,000 playing bingo
A 40-year-old woman from Derby is more than £11,000 richer - thanks to playing bingo at the Gala Club in Liversage Street.
The lucky winner, who does not want to be named, was said to be ‘very excited’ and eager to get home after her win to break the news to her family.
It was last Thursday, 3 April that good fortune struck, while she was playing a National Bingo Game called Afternoon Delight. She won the National prize of £10,280, plus the Regional prize of £1,112 and the house prize of £15 after completing a full house in 43 numbers, the lowest call in any of the 470 clubs playing nationwide.
The winner has been a member of the Gala for six years and plays there at least once or twice a week.
“It’s good to see a regular player being rewarded,” said Phillip Lewis, the main stage caller at the Gala, who was there to see the woman’s big win.
“It was a good day for the club as that same evening another lady won a Regional prize of more than £2,000 and just missed out by one number on the National prize of £34,000.”
