£450,000 Platinum Bingo win is life-changing for two couples
A Bristol woman is going to pay off her mortgage – and that of her best friends –after winning almost £450,000 on the National Bingo Game’s Platinum Jackpot play-off.
“We always said we would if any one of the four of us won anything,” said the 40-year-old winner who has asked not to be named. “This will be life changing for us all.”
She was playing bingo at the Gala Club in the Hengrove Leisure Park, Whitchurch on Sunday evening when she won a total of £449,121.
This was made up of the Platinum Jackpot prize of £405,530; the Sunday National Game prize of £40,000; the Zone prize of £3,085; the Club prize of £386 and the £120 House prize.
The Platinum and National prize was £891,060 in total Sunday night, but she had to share with a player in Gateshead, who also completed a full house in 44 numbers, the lowest call in any of the clubs playing nationwide.
The winner works as a sales manager while her husband is a ceramic tiler. Just three weeks ago their friends of 20 years with whom they play bingo, got married in Last Vegas – and they were there with them.
“Her husband has since been working in China, so there were only the three of us there on Sunday,” said the winner. “We telephoned him with the good news at one o’clock in the morning and woke him up and told him to come home. He didn’t believe us at first but then it still doesn’t seem real to any of us. We are all in shock. I didn’t sleep at all the first night and just can’t take it in.”
She added that her brother was a financial advisor and she plans to invest whatever is left after paying off their homes.
