Clacton £41,000 bingo winner sharing with friend
A Clacton woman has won more than £41,000 playing bingo and is sticking to an agreement she made by giving half to the friend with whom she plays.
The 61-year-old winner, who wants to remain anonymous, says that both she and her friend are over the moon with the win, at the Gala Club in Pier Avenue, Clacton.
It was while there on the evening of Monday, 5 May that she won the National Bingo Game prize of £39,535, plus the Regional prize of £1,999 and the house prize of £100. She completed a full house in 470 numbers, the lowest call in any of the 470 clubs playing nationwide.
“I’m gobsmacked,” said the winner, “I don’t want to make any rash decisions while I’m still so shocked so I’ll wait until I get the cheque before I decide what I’m going to do with the money.”
The woman, who is retired, is married with two children and one grandchild. She has been playing bingo for 32 years and plays once or twice a week at the Gala with her friend.
