Gosforth woman can retire after £450,000 Platinum Bingo Jackpot win
A Gosforth grandmother has won more than £450,000 on the National Bingo Game’s Platinum Jackpot play-off.
It was a magnificent early birthday present for the winner who will be 62 in May. “This will make such a difference to me; it has changed my life already,” she said, still in shock today. “I am sharing with my daughter and we both screamed and cried when they told us how much we had won. I didn’t sleep at all that night and it still won’t sink in.”
She was playing bingo at the Gala Club in the Metro Centre, Gateshead with her 39-year-old daughter on Sunday evening when she won a total of £451,806.
This was made up of the Platinum Jackpot prize of £405,530; the Sunday National Game prize of £40,000; the Zone prize of £3,009; the Club prize of £2,767 and the £500 house prize.
The Platinum and National prize was £891,060 in total Sunday night, but she had to share with a player in Bristol, who also completed a full house in 44 numbers, the lowest call in any of the clubs playing nationwide.
“I was more than happy with the £3,267 cash they handed me on the night for the club and house prizes. I didn’t know about the Platinum Game. It is just great, absolutely unbelievable,” she said.
The winner, who has two daughters, a son, and ‘a few grandchildren,’ works part-time in an office but says she is now going to retire.
“I won’t be giving up bingo though, I enjoy it too much,” she added. Apart from treating her family, she plans a holiday or two and will pay off her mortgage.
